AAFT School of Journalism Pays Tribute to Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi on His Birth Anniversary

Noida, October 26 – The International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI), in collaboration with AAFT School of Mass Communication and Journalism, commemorated the birth anniversary of the legendary journalist Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi at Marwah Studios, Noida Film City. The event honored Vidyarthi’s legacy as a pioneering voice for truth and justice in journalism.

Reflecting on Vidyarthi’s contributions, Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of Marwah Studios, remarked, “Journalism is rooted in truth, and the role of a journalist is to report honestly and impartially. This is the invaluable lesson that Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi has imparted to us all.”

Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi began his career as a clerk and teacher before immersing himself in journalism and politics. In 1913, he founded Pratap, a Hindi weekly that became a platform for voicing the struggles of oppressed peasants, workers, and marginalized communities. His efforts went beyond journalism as he also translated Victor Hugo’s novel Ninety-Three into Hindi, bridging cultural and social narratives.

The commemoration included tributes from prominent figures in the media and film industry, including filmmakers Vinky Singh, Ajay Chitnis, and Sidhhaarrth Nayyar, as well as journalist Kumar Rakesh, each expressing gratitude for Vidyarthi’s fearless journalism and advocacy for social justice.

The event highlighted Vidyarthi’s enduring influence on Indian journalism and his dedication to truthful reporting, inspiring future generations of journalists to uphold his principles of courage and integrity.
